  • In the End...

I ordered the blue one for Izzy now, and Gabby will have to wait. Now I feel even worse because Gabby was all excited to get a new red car seat. But...they only had 5 blue in stock while the red had 10 in stock and promised more on the way (and the Diono site is back ordered on all colors)! Of course, now Gabby said she wants purple. I think she thought she could get it right away if she got a different color.

Well, I need to start writing like crazy to earn enough to get Gabby's before September. My mom said she intends to give me $50 as a late graduation gift in the near future. Between that and what I've already earned toward next month's Yahoo payment, I'm already 1/3 of the way there!

Hopefully, I'll get a deposit on the September wedding, too. But I didn't force the matter since it's a friend's wedding.

I'm trying to think of other ways to quickly make a little money. Of course, photography would be the obvious answer. But clearly I suck at marketing. So yeah. Suggestions are welcome!

  • I'm Doing It!

I'm ordering this car seat for Gabby.

She loves pink, but they don't have pink. So...she eagerly shouted, "I want the red one!" when I asked what color she'd like. Izzy immediately started squealing, "And I want blue." I felt so bad telling her she has to wait until September. sad But I'll get her the blue one for sure. Lucy will probably get purple (because she's too young to pick but I'd like her to have her own color). Then again, she'll be a year old when I order them, so maybe she will be able to pick. lol I don't know about Baby Boy yet (no name agreed on yet). I want to get him something other than grey or beige, but I don't want to have duplicate colors. Hmmmm. Eh, if Lucy picks a color, and if it is the same as Izzy or Gabby, then I'll go ahead and get a duplicate for Baby Boy. I suppose. Red or blue would be a boy-friendly color. But I will be ordering his in September with Izzy's. Lucy has to wait, unless I make enough extra money in the mean time. We'll see. Technically, the September wedding will cover all three of the remaining seats. I just don't know if I should spend it ALL on car seats.

Well, I haven't ordered this one just yet. I'm waiting from the okay from Jason. I have some reservations about spending the money from the wedding before even doing it. But...my contract does say no refunds after payment has been received.... Still, I'd feel bad if something came up and they needed/wanted a refund.

Actually, though, my biggest reservation is that I'd have to pay from the bank account instead of from my PayPal. Stupid Amazon. It's not that I'm worried about paying with a debit card. I trust Amazon, or I wouldn't order from them as often as I do. However. I have the money available on PayPal. We have it in the bank too, but I was intending to use the PayPal balance to buy the car seat.

Aww, but it really did break my heart to tell Izzy she had to wait.

  • Titles are the Hardest Part of Blogging

Yes, I have run out of titles for posts full of random tidbits. Sorry.

3 days til we start moving! Unfortunately, we can't seem to get hold of the manager at the new place to find out what electric company services that area. It's very frustrating because we would like to have electricity when we are moving. AND we already set it up to have the internet switched over there on Friday.

Lucy is being a crabby pants. I have a lot of work to do, but she wants to be held.

The battery for my BlackBerry has been on its last leg for a while. Several weeks ago, the previous battery died for good. Jason gave me his, and then we bought him a used one from a used phone store in town. Well, I quickly burned out his old battery too. We found the one from my old, broken BB. However, I was putting off putting it in my phone until the current one was completely finished. Now, I don't know where it is. So annoying.

Well, today I got paid the remaining balance for the wedding I have booked for June 2nd. It's only $300 (this was a $500 portfolio-building wedding shoot). Originally, I was planning to use it to buy one of those super nice, super safe car seats I have been wanting to get the girls (or, rather, I was thinking this one should be for the boy...but I have another wedding booked in early September that could get his car seat if I get Gabby's now). However, I KNOW I thought of something that I was thinking the money maybe should go for instead. But I can't remember what for the life of me. Maybe it didn't come down to something other than a car seat but rather was whether I should get a seat for the new baby or for Gabby right now. Gabby really needs one soon, so she can stop using it as a booster (to avoid the tipping of her current seat, if you will recall from my previous post about this). I would really like for her to be using a harness still (as she should be).

Jason doesn't really think the kids need these expensive car seats. I can't blame him for not wanting to spend $300 A PIECE on 4 car seats, but I think they DO need them. I told him that, if I make enough money between photo shoots and writing, I AM getting them. He said that is fine as long as the bills are paid first. lol

Now, I am debating if I should get the Radian for this baby (like I plan to get the girls) because it goes up to 120 pounds and does rear-facing, front-facing harness, AND booster or if I should get him a Britax convertible. I am just concerned about neck support for a newborn. I don't really like convertibles for newborns because I feel like they are too upright. Babies who can't support their necks always seem to be falling forward in them, and I worry about their breathing when leaned so far over. I honestly don't even like the way Lucy's head falls to her chest when she falls asleep in her convertible.

Speaking of making money from writing. I have already earned almost $40 in performance pay (in the last 10 days or so). I'm pretty proud of myself. lol Too bad all those views are only for one article, and none of the others are getting any views at all. lol Also, that article was getting several thousand views a day the last several days...until yesterday when I got a total of no views at all. lol

Gah. I wish I could remember what I was thinking about the car seats or something else. It's driving me crazy. If I'm getting a car seat, I want to go ahead an order it. However, I don't want to order it until I know there's not something more pressing.

We need other things too. Like the car needs work, but it doesn't get driven a whole lot these days. Jason just drives it to work and school. $300 isn't enough for the new axle end, anyway. I think the car seats take precedence.

  • what marriage is to me

Marriage is hard. I don't know anyone who would claim otherwise. My marriage has definitely been hard.

There have been times when Jason really hurt me. He has said and done things that made me feel worthless, not good enough, unattractive, unwanted, unappreciated, and even unloved. And I'm sure I have done the same to him.

Sometimes, in moments of anger or hurt, we deliberately lash out with the intention of saying or doing something to hurt each other. It's human weakness.

There have definitely been times when I have wanted to do something that would make Jason feel the way he has made me feel at times in the past. (Sadly, others can pick up on this, and it makes marriages more prone to outside attempts to break them up--as I have learned. Some people--especially lonely, desperate people--will try to take advantage of these weak moments.)

Marriage is hard work, compromise, and forgiveness. Marriage is commitment. Even at my lowest point, when someone else may have offered--or claimed to offer--better, when I was tempted to walk away, I didn't.

We have faced a lot of other kinds of struggles, too. Especially financial struggles. Of course, these cause stress which can lead to more of the other issues.

But marriage is working through these rough patches. Marriage is realizing that people who try to tempt us aren't looking out for our best interests and aren't worth giving up what we have. Marriage is forgiving each other for the words and actions that hurt us, and it is trying to avoid saying and doing things that will hurt each other.

And the love and companionship is worth it all. It's too bad for those who have tried to butt in; they missed out on some good catches. But I will never for a second regret that they failed.
  • poo poo problems part 2

We took Gabby to the doctor. She's just really constipated, like I thought. They did an X-ray, and she's REALLY backed up.

So...for the fun part (total sarcasm). I have to give her 2-3 suppositories over 2-3 days. Then, she gets to take Miralax once a day for...a long time. He said once a day for 3 months, and then we can try cutting back to every other day and see how it goes.

As I said last night, my sister had chronic constipation issues as a kid, and she took Metamucel/Citrucel for several years.

The doctor said this is a common issue in small children. He said he probably sees one kid a day in the same position as Gabby. So that makes me feel better. However, I feel bad that we didn't go in sooner. She's had constipation problems since she was a baby, but it seemed like she was going often enough. It was always just hard, so I thought she just needed more fiber.

The doctor said, based on the X-ray, it has been an issue for a long time. I guess that makes sense because he said the hardness of the poop is caused by it sitting in there so long and losing so much water. And, as I said, the hard stuff has been going on since before she was a year old.

Anyway. Hopefully this will all take care of it.

In the mean time, Gabby hates me after her first suppository.
